This year, we're taking inspiration from the "Summer of Love," a pivotal moment in cultural history. Most of our members have some memories of this era, mostly clear ones!

For those unfamiliar, the Summer of Love refers to the counter-cultural movement of the 1960s, which had a significant impact across the Western world. Centered around San Francisco, it spanned from 1967 (marked by events like the "Be-In" and the Monterey International Pop Festival) to 1969 (the year of the Woodstock Festival).
Emerging from a backdrop of Cold War tensions, the Vietnam War, and dissatisfaction with the establishment, young people gathered in San Francisco, seeking social change. Their movement challenged materialism, questioned authority, and promoted a sense of community based on peace, love, and a rejection of traditional norms.
This rich cultural landscape has provided a wealth of inspiration for our director. We will be exploring those times through its music and a plausible personal story, offering a first-hand journey back in time.
Can't wait to get in the mood! You can explore the first Monterey Pop Festival here.
